The above photo is a screen shot of me doing the TV2 news at Kent State in the fall of 2012. Sharing information with people, connecting with them, and getting people's attention to get them to care about what you are saying is something that I am passionate about. Being in front of the camera on a news channel that was broadcast to hundreds of people in Kent and on campus as well as people watching online has taught me how to go talk and engage with people so they will listen to you and make them believe that they will find what you have to say interesting. Also, this made me realize my true passion for being a teacher; yes, broadcast journalism was a lot of fun, but I want to contribute to society in a larger, more personal way. I always knew growing up being a teacher was what I truly, passionately wanted to do with my life as an adult. I love presenting information, talking and working with people, being creative and caring, and sharing my knowledge with others is something that comes so naturally and easily for me. I have such a passion for learning, that I want to encourage others to learn and make an impact on their lives as so many of my teachers through all of my education careers have. My work with TV2 really showed me my natural ability to talk to people, present information and to get people's attention to interview for the segment. I learned so much about myself during this and the major thing that I learned was how much I did not fit in in the journalism world, that I want my life to mean more than the news, and that I should follow my true calling and become a teacher.
